Synopsis

Collyhurst Girl is a heartfelt memoir capturing the life and times of Hetty O’Neill (née Brown), a woman born in 1914 Manchester, Lancashire. Through her vivid recollections, Hetty transports readers to a bygone era—sharing childhood memories of street games, bustling markets, and family struggles against the backdrop of two World Wars. Pieced together from handwritten notes discovered after her passing, this book paints a picture of resilience, love, and laughter in working-class Manchester. Edited and lovingly compiled by her daughter, Susan Skorzewski, *Collyhurst Girl* is more than a memoir—it’s a tribute to a remarkable woman and the generations she inspired. Perfect for those who cherish personal histories and the enduring spirit of Northern England.
